The Weekend to End Breast Cancer is a two-day, 60-kilometre walk through the neighbourhoods of Toronto.
In 2004, I walked for the cause.
This year, it's personal.
I am walking in honour of my sister in law, my mentor, who lost her brave struggle on January 14th.
Back in November I did a "pre-training" walk to Oakville, just over 20kms. It was a windy, cold and rainy day. I was wet, uncomfortable and sore.
Many times I thought of reaching for my cell phone and having someone pick me up. Every time, I thought "this is nothing, what's Linda going through right this minute" and I found the strength to continue.
I am walking for my daughters, for all the women in my life and for all the women in your lives, that they may never have to go through it.
I am walking because I want to make a difference.
Thank-you for your support.
